Allergies are the devil and I love cheese!

So, it's 10:30 on a Saturday night and i'm back at home. I left at 7:00 to go to a wine, cheese, and chocolate party a friend was having that I'd been looking forward to all week. I was having such a good time when my allergies started acting up because they have 3 cats. I totally forgot they had cats (haven't been over there in a while) and I was just dying because I didn't take an allergy pill. I'm really really sensitive. I was kind of embarrassed that I had to leave only 2 hours after the party when the wine was flowing and everyone was having a good time. My throat was closing up and I was sneezing all the way to my car. I just hate when allergies interfere with fun. Anywho, while I was there I had some awesome cheese and wine. It was funny, everyone went to the Gateway Market to get their cheese but no one brought the same cheese! I got assistance from the cheese man who was quite knowledgeable and kinda cute too! I personally brought prarie breeze cheese made from cow's milk. It was quite tasty! I do love cheese. In undergrad we were assigned to write a 3 page paper on anything we did over the summer, anything. I went to Italy and ate tons of cheese, and drank a lot of wine too. I love cheese so I wrote a paper on all the cheese I tasted and people thought I was crazy. I maintain it's a masterpiece to this very day : )

New Stuff

I'm getting some good feedback on my flower paintings. I use acrylic with a few cardboard petals incorporated into each painting. I bought some of these 4x12 maritime canvases and really kind of like the different size. This one is titled Cheerios because the yellow flower is mostly made from a Cheerios ceral box. I was going to name it riboflavin but I think I may have spelled it wrong. Is it rhiboflavin or riboflavin? Hmm, what is riboflavin anyway? Anyway, I think I'll be purchasing more of these and painting the triflowers. They can be hung vertical, horizontal, and in multi-panels!

I Want That

www.kalla.etsy.com, check out these awesome hand printed pillows! I love the designs she uses and they are very funky and modern. Kalla is in Japan, I love Japanese art and artists too. I used to teach in a Japanese immersion school and those students were amazing artists! I wish I had some furniture to spice up, I would get these pillows in a heartbeat. Shipping is super inexpensive too considering where the items are shipping from. Anywho, I totally want these pillows!

I Want That

First of all, I want to give a huge thanks to Nfall2rt (on Etsy) for choosing me to be the Sunday Seller Spotlight on 11/9! She is supercool!
Secondly, I've admired her work for some time as well. Nfall2rt creates handmade scarfs, pendants, giftcards, and these very cool purses! There are more pictures on her website and they look very professional using really beautiful colors. I really like the little buttons and pocket on the shoulder bag along with the vertical stripes. I could see myself taking that little wristy out for the afternoon. You must check out her scarfs too. They come in bold colorful stripes and look thick, wide, and long just like I like! You know how some people make scarfs that are super short and it looks like they gave up, Nfall2rt does not skimp on the yarn one bit. I live in Iowa and I would wear one of those bad boys any blizzardy day of the week!

New Painting

I began a new painting series inspired by the wallflowers and bowlflowers made from upcycled/recycled cereal boxes. I like the patterns and textures on these bowls and thought they might look fun as paintings too. I've incorporated a few of the actual cardboard petals, can you find them? This is an 8"x10" canvas and I would like to make some even bigger paintings showing many different layers and colors.

Art House Co-op Sketchbook Show

This summer I entered a show at the Art House Co-op in Atlanta and they posted a picture of most of the sketchbooks that were on display. Here are some of the entries. Mine is in the third row across and six down. The image is faint but it's a carved kayak on the front that shows the colored page behind it. It was really fun to make! I have signed up to participate in another sketchbook project with the Art House. This time they are taking the sketchbooks on a tour displaying them in galleries around the country! Pretty cool. The tour schedule is posted on their site, www.arthousecoop.com. I will post it here too when my sketchbook is complete and it gets closer to February 2009.

I Want That

Amnieva is one of my favorite sellers on Etsy.com. I have one of these aprons and every time I look at this site the aprons get even more fun and beautiful! This one is called "hoot apron" that comes with a little owl on the top. These are artist aprons made to hold paint brushes and other goodies that artists need pockets for! I love mine so much I wish I would make messier art so that I could wear it all the time!
